Assemblymember Anna M. Caballero Young Legislators Program 2017

Overview of the Program:

The Young Legislators Program is a great introduction to the workings of government and the legislative process. The program provides a strong foundation for youth who want to get involved in the leadership of their community. Through these seminars, students will be exposed to the many aspects of the legislature and community issues.

The program is aimed at exposing students to the structure and responsibilities of state government and will give students the opportunity to sharpen their leadership, presentation, speaking, facilitation, and decision making skills.

DEADLINE EXTENDED to Thursday July 13, 2017

Eligibility:

  • A high school student who lives or attends school in the 30th Assembly District
  • Interested in learning about State and local government
  • Motivated to make a difference in the community
  • Willingness to express your thoughts and ideas
  • Ability to work as a member of a team

Requirements:

  • High School Students with at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA or higher
  • Complete an application by 5:00 p.m. July 13, 2017
  • Commit to the 3 week program length
  • (Salinas Cohort: Mondays and Wednesdays, July 17- August 2, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon;
  • South County Cohort: Saturdays July 15, 22, 29 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
  • Attend mandatory parent/student orientation meeting TBD
