Paso a Paso in Watsonville and Pajaro
WATSONVILLE - Assemblymember Anna Caballero recognizes the communities of Pajaro and Watsonville who are promoting early literacy for children and parents though the Paso a Paso learning App. Paso a Paso is an early literacy app in Spanish and English for the community to promote reading in children 0 years to 3rd grade. Watsonville, Pajaro and Aptos secured a 3.5 million dollar grant and invested about $1 million dollars to place this free app in the hands of families. In addition to truly closing the reading gap for students when they reach the 3rd grade, it is found that parents who have not had the opportunity to learn to read and write, are also using the app to learn. This in turn, allows parents to support their child as they begin to learn.
