SACRAMENTO – Today Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D–Salinas) announced the passage of AB 638 through the Assembly Judiciary Committee. AB 638 is intended to combat immigration fraud, stop the unauthorized practice of law, regulate immigration service providers, and adds consumer protections for those that need assistance in immigration matters.

AB 638 would prohibit any person from acting as an “immigration consultant” unless the person is an attorney or an “accredited representative” authorized by federal law.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) cast her vote in support of SB 1, legislation which will fund transportation-related projects in California. "The passage of SB1 is truly monumental. While it was a difficult vote to take for many members, there is no question that our roads are failing and full of potholes, and our bridges are in desperate need of repairs", said Assemblymember Anna Caballero. "SB1 will bring millions of dollars to all of our cities and counties and bring hundreds of good paying jobs to our district to fix much needed infrastructure."

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) today introduced legislation to address the state’s growing housing supply and affordability crisis.  The measure, called the California Middle Class Affordable Housing and Homeless Shelter Act of 2018 (ACA 11), would deliver needed resources to provide homeownership assistance for first-time homebuyers, affordable rents for families from middle to very-low income households, and housing and shelter for homeless individuals.  To fund this act, the bill would impose a statewide quarter cent sales tax beginning on January 1, 2019.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) announced a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and California Earned Income Tax Credit (Cal EITC) workshop in her district. The event takes place today at Hartnell College, starting at 5 p.m. Assemblymember Caballero has partnered with Board of Equalization, Chair Fiona Ma, and Monterey United Way to bring this event to Salinas Valley residents.

(Sacramento) – Millions of dollars for hundreds of thousands of Californians. That’s what the California Earned Income Tax Credit program adds up to, says Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas). She authored House Resolution 19 to spread the word about Cal-EITC. “In its first year, Cal-EITC boosted the income of nearly 400,000 Californians, providing nearly $200 million in refunds,” said Assemblymember Caballero. “In California alone, an estimated $2 billion of state and federal EITC has not been used.
