SACRAMENTO – Today Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) presented AB 822. The bill promotes the purchase of high quality agricultural products from California by creating a state purchasing preference.

“This bill supports our local farmers, ranchers, and farmworkers who produce the healthy food that we eat. It’s good for our rural communities and good for the state,” said Caballero. “State institutions spend nearly $1 billion a year on food products. California’s economy benefits when state institutions purchase California grown products,” she added.
