Assemblymember Anna M. Caballero Introduces Legislation to Put Money Back in the Hands of Working Families
Sacramento - Assemblymember Caballero (D–Salinas) today introduced legislation to provide a tax refund to working low-income families struggling with the high cost of child care. Most impoverished young children live in households with working parents, yet their basic economic security is at risk. AB 2023 promotes a critical policy that complements our state’s efforts to reduce child poverty by providing a small income boost to families that need it most.
From the most urban to the most rural counties in California, families are burdened by the rising costs of child care. AB 2023 will help working parents meet the economic challenges of raising a family in our state.
“Too many families pay a significant percentage of their income on child care expenses in order to work. We must do more to lift families out of poverty, help parents stay in the workforce and promote quality child care,” said Assemblymember Caballero.
