Caballero Supports Bipartisan CA Guest Worker Permit Legislation

Thursday, January 25, 2018

(Sacramento)  - Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) joined Assemblymembers Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and Devon Mathis (R-Visalia) and Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) to announce their proposed legislation to address critical labor shortages facing our state’s vital agricultural and service industries. AB 1885, California Resident Worker Program and Economic Stabilization Act, would organize a working group in order to establish a model for the implementation of a resident worker permit program. “The labor shortage we have experienced over the past ten years has gotten steadily worse and has negatively impacted our economy,” Assemblymember Caballero said. “For the first time in my 30-plus years in rural California farmers have been forced to leave produce in the fields.” Learn more in this Assembly Access video.
