Addis Responds to Passage of ACA 8 & SB 280

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) issued the following statement in response to the passage of ACA 8 and SB 280, legislation actions to improve California’s electoral representation:

“Texas is silencing voters, California is giving them a voice,” said Addis. “That’s why I co-authored ACA 8 & SB 280 – to create the most transparent redistricting process in the nation. We won’t let underrepresented communities be attacked. It’s time to let all Californians, not just a few, decide our future together.”

Pending Governor Newsom’s action on the legislation, California will have a special election on November 4, 2025 in which voters will decide whether to suspend the state constitution and approve new maps.

Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
