SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) issued a letter of support for H.R. 581, bipartisan legislation authored by House Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) requiring disclosure of federal records related to Jeffrey Epstein. Addis emphasized how the measure aligns with California's AB 452, which she authored to eliminate the statute of limitations for civil claims of childhood sexual assault occurring after January 1, 2024.
"In California, following to the passage of my bill, AB 452 in 2023, child sexual assault survivors now have the right to seek civil justice regardless of age," said Addis "I remain hopeful that Epstein survivors will soon have the same right nationwide. We need the full truth to come to light, and congress has the power to do so. Here in the Golden State, I've led a letter of support for the bi-partisan H.R. 581 bill. I'm grateful to be joined by many of my colleagues who believe that those who commit sexual abuse against children, and the networks and institutions that support them, must be held accountable."
AB 452, known as the Justice for Survivors Act, removes arbitrary deadlines and strengthen penalties for institutional cover-ups. H.R. 581 demands federal disclosure of Epstein related files, ensuring the public can access uncensored information.
H.R. 581 is pending consideration in congress.
AB 452 was signed into law, taking effect January 1, 2024.

Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
