SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) today announced that eight of her bills have passed the State Legislature and now advance to Governor Gavin Newsom's desk for his consideration.
"I'm proud that eight of my bills are now making their way to the Governor's desk," said Addis "This success reflects the dedication of countless advocates and community members who worked alongside us to stand up for everyday Californians. I look forward to working with the Governor to have these bills signed."
The bills that await consideration by Governor Newsom include:
AB 560: Special Education Caseloads – Lowers caseloads for resource specialist from 28-1 to 20-1, includes initial assessments in caseloads.
AB 1336: Farmworker Heat Illness Act – Protects farmworkers from the growing dangers of extreme heat by promoting compliance with existing outdoor heat illness prevention standards.
AB 1076: Qualified ABLE Program – Expands access to CalABLE accounts, making it easier for people with disabilities to save and use funds for essential needs. Allows individuals who receive CalKIDS funds but don't plan to attend college to transfer that money into CalABLE accounts, ensuring they can use it for other critical expenses.
AB 1288: Retain and Train Act – Helps ensure that an increased number of qualified individuals can continue their career protecting the community's health.
AB 1487: 2TGI Wellness and Equity Fund – Recognizes Two-Spirit identities and ensures allocated resources reach the full diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.
AB 761: Monterey-Salinas Transit Tax Cap – Allows the Monterey-Salinas Transit District (MST) to submit a measure to the voters of their district, if they choose to do so, to propose a retail transaction and use tax of no more than 1/4 –cent.
AB 808: Cal-Access Modernization and Transparency Act – Allows the public to more clearly access campaign finance reports on candidates and elected officials.
AB 1008: Alcoholic Beverages: Licenses: County of San Luis Obispo County – Authorizes additional alcohol licenses for restaurants in San Luis Obispo County.
